Instrumenta tests a monitoring program's triggers and responses with the people responsible for acting on them.
- Sold as
- A written proposal after a consultation session: scope, deliverables and fee.
- Result
- An exercise record showing what was raised, who was told and when, and what they did.
Purpose
Instrumenta runs the response plan with the people who act on alarms and forecasts. The exercise tests whether a reading reaches the decision maker in time and whether responders know what to do.
When it applies
- Your response plan has never been tested in an exercise.
- New staff, a new contractor or a new control room need to practise the response.
- A wet season, blast program or construction phase is about to start.
- Your alarms are raised but do not lead to action.
- A regulator or board needs evidence that the response works.
Scope
| Simulation | Play a simulated event through the monitoring system with responders while keeping the network unchanged. |
| Trial | Raise a test alarm on an agreed measurement. Record who received it, when, what they did and what was recorded. |
| Live event | Attend a forecast event as it happens and observe the response against the plan. |
| Review | Record what worked, what failed and the changes needed to triggers, call lists, training and records. |
Method
- Agree the exercise, systems and people, including safety controls for any real alarm.
- Run and time the exercise.
- Compare the response with the plan.
- Issue the review with changes and owners.
Deliverables
- An exercise record showing what was raised, who was told and when, and what they did.
- The gaps between the plan and the response.
- Changes to the response plan, with an owner for each.
A consultation session is the first step: at no charge, by email to enquiries@instrumenta.io.
