Monitoring program management

Instrumenta manages the monitoring program between projects, so it has one manager and one set of records.

Sold as
A retainer set out in a written proposal after a consultation session, reviewed each year.
Result
Current records for stations, inspections, data checks, alarms, triggers, forecasts, exercises and response plans across the program.

Purpose

Instrumenta manages your monitoring program between projects. The service keeps station purposes, telemetry, data checks, alarms, triggers, forecasts and response plans current. Instrumenta reports the program's condition to your site and prepares a monitoring statement where the regulator or board requires one.

When it applies

  • Your network is running, and you need one manager for the monitoring program.
  • Findings from a review need an owner who will follow them through.
  • A regulator, board or auditor asks whether the monitoring remains fit for purpose.
  • Your site has no in-house monitoring specialist.
  • A new network needs an operating routine at handover.

Scope

Station registerKeep each station's purpose, owner and check schedule current.
Data checksCheck data delivery, gaps, drift and calibration status on the agreed cycle. Raise faults with their owners.
Alarms and triggersMaintain the alarm and trigger register against the response plan and control changes. Keep trigger levels set by the engineer of record as set.
Forecasts and response plansBuild a forecast method where a decision needs one. Review forecasts and response plans on the agreed cycle and after each event.
InspectionsInspect installation, power, communications and station condition on the agreed cycle and after storms.
ExercisesExercise the response plan with the people who respond, on the agreed cycle.
ReportingReport the program's condition to the site and prepare a monitoring statement where the regulator or board requires one.

Method

  1. Agree the scope, check cycle and reporting, then record them in the retainer.
  2. Take over the program and establish or update its records.
  3. Carry out checks, reviews and reports on the agreed cycle.
  4. Review the scope each year against site needs and obligations.
